Automatic Photo Scanner

An automatic photo scanner will let you scan up to hundreds of pictures at once, offering huge convenience.

An automatic photo scanner is the best way to scan a lot of images into your computer as quickly and easily as possible.  They allow you to scan many photographs all at once, and edit them accordingly.  This is much quicker than the average scanner which requires you to arrange each photo individually, and then crop them once they’ve been converted to your computer, to achieve perfect results.  An automatic photo scanner does most of this for you, and also enables you to scan many photographs without having to constantly add and remove images.

The average photo scanner has a folding backdrop not unlike what you would find on a copier machine.  In order to scan the photographs you’re required to lift up this screen, and then place the photo within the given markings on the inside so that you can ensure the image will be copied.  Then you have to put down the screen, and then wait for the image to be loaded into your computer.  From there you’ll usually have to crop the edges, because some amount of white background will also be copied.  This process is slow, tedious, and can really take up a lot of time.

Automatic photo scanners allow you to deposit dozens, and even hundreds of photographs at once.  Then the machine automatically scans each item into your computer.  From there you can scroll through and iron out any cropping issues quickly and easily, cutting your photo scanning time in half.  This allows you to operate quickly and accurately in the same way that a photo scanning service would.  But also affording you the added convenience of allowing you to scan the photos yourself, in your own home.  Although there are a few things you’ll want to check before purchasing an automatic photo scanner.

First consider the size of the unit.  Some automatic scanners are only intended for small photographs, so if you have full page sized prints, make sure you find a scanner that can accommodate them.  Also consider the amount of photos you’ll need to be scanning.  If you’re going through hundreds of photographs that need to be converted, you’ll probably want one of the larger units that allow you to scan hundreds of photographs at one time.  Although these are more expensive, they will also make the process go much more smoothly, and won’t take up quite as much of your valuable time.

Typically prices for automatic photo scanners differ by size, and type.  Scanners that are intended for standard photographs can range from $150 to well over $400 depending upon the amount of photographs that they can store at once.  But there are also automatic photo scanners that can handle projector slides and film reels.  They are usually within the same price range, and you can find models that can scan a dozen, or well beyond all at once.  Determine your budget, and the amount scanning you have to do, in order to find the absolute best model for your specific needs.
