Digital Photo Printing

Digital photo printing can be attained through two means, one of which is printers and the other being online prints for cheap prices.

As the digital age has advanced there has been an increase in the number of portable, hand held electrical devices on the market. One of the most popular of these is the digital camera and this provides a convenient way to take pictures in a digital format that can be stored on a computer. However as well as storing them, many people also like to have a hard copy of photos and there are a number of digital photo printing options available to do this.

Traditional cameras require film which is loaded into the camera and then professionally developed to produce the final pictures. However this is not the case with a digital camera which uses an electronic image sensor to record the pictures. This means the photos are stored on the camera in digital format and it provides the opportunity for anyone to store the pictures on a computer or print them out without professional assistance.

There are a few options available for digital photo printing with a method that is popular being to purchase a digital photo printer. These are typically small, portable printers with some of the manufacturers that produce them including Canon, Sony and Hewlett Packard. The cost of these has reduced in recent years with many photo printers now costing less than $100 to purchase. These can be connected to a computer, with the pictures downloaded from the camera to the computer to be printed out. Having a photo printer available enables you to print out your photos whenever you choose to do so.

Many digital cameras and photo printers are also manufactured these days so that they can be connected together. This allows photos to be printed direct from the camera without the need for a computer. This can be an advantage in that it means a printer can be carried with you and photos printed out direct from a digital camera wherever you are. Some of the best rated photo printers include the Canon Pixma MP990 Wireless Photo Printer and the Hewlett Packard Photosmart A636 Compact Photo Printer.

Other options for digital photo printing include online printing. There are a number of companies that offer online printing services with some of these including Snapfish, Shutterfly, Smug Mug and Kodak Gallery. Most of these will print your digital photos for around 8 cents to 20 cents per standard 4 x 6 size print. For the majority of these services all that is required is to open a free account. Photos can then be uploaded directly to their website from your computer. You can then use the services on the site to store photos, edit them and also order prints which are usually printed on professional quality paper. Companies like Walgreens even offer the opportunity to collect prints in-store, meaning you can upload your photos to their digital photo website and pick them up in your nearest Walgreen store within a couple of hours.

While storing your digital photos on a computer for viewing is an option, many people also like to have prints made. Options for digital photo printing can include purchasing a photo printer for your own use or using an online printing service. Whichever you decide to use you will have high quality prints of your photos to remind you of some good times.
